The following are the random facts that were not covered in The Plot area and are things that need to be known to help you get more involved in the storyline. With the help of (our former) Kisame, (former) Itachi, Naruto and a few others we've come up with this Survival Guide for everyone to use for random information if they're curious to know these things.
This will be updated as we figure out more things that might possibly need to be covered, and no, this is not in any specific order. New updates will now be at the bottom of the Survival guide section as more questions are answered, the newest updates will be marked with a * while the second oldest ones being marked with *
- The Kouya no Keisotsu, Gunji Seisatsu, Kan Shiro are Konoha specific, other domes would have other names for these things should they have them.
- For any person who was not born of Konoha, they must meet these requirements in order to become a citizen and be eligible for a military, medical, or scientific job: The person MUST live in Konoha for NO LESS THAN 10 years, and have proven that they are loyal to Konoha and it's interests. After taking a test and receiving their identification card, they are considered a citizen of Konoha and can then have whatever job they wish to have.
- The Sky, for the most part is cloudy. The clouds are dirty, usually brown or dark black. However, there are clear days when the sun shines though just fine, though those days are few and far between.
*- When outside the domes while in the wastelands, ALWAYS wear your respirator. While yes, you can breath outside as there is oxygen, there are also thousands of chemicals floating around in the air that, after about five(5) minutes, your lungs will feel like they're turning to ash. There are certain circumstances where the respirator doesn't need to be worn; for example: an underground (fairly deep underground) lake, or caverns. The air below ground has a lower toxicity than the surface and water is always a buffer, cleaning out the air unintentionally.
- There is a festival held once a year in Konoha celebrating the day the dome was completed and the people had found a way to live "on" the surface once again. (We will discuss and decide when to hold this, but it will more than likely be in the SUMMER for us so everyone can participate)
- The Konoha dome has a "glass" ceiling. The "Glass" is really a very thick un-breakable material that allows for the the sky to be seen but the "glass" only covers the top-most half of the dome, with thick concrete and steel walls aligning the bottom to keep inhabitants safe. The dome also has a regulated temperature inside.
- In Konoha the currency is Precious Gems found out in the wastelands. Scavengers like Kisame bring them in from outside as well as the Teams of Kounokei when they raid fleshless lairs as the Fleshless are known to collect "shiny things". In Konoha the value of the gem is based on how commonly it's found. The list is as follows:
Diamond -1
Red Gems - 5
Blue Gems - 10
Green Gems - 20
Purple Gems - 50
Yellow Gems -100
Orange Gems - 1000
- The citizens of Konoha have ID card to make sure that everyone is accounted for should something happen and so that outsiders can not simply slip onto the population unnoticed.
- Those citizens of the military, more specifically the Kounokei, and those of the council, including the Chancellor, do not have to pay for anything being as they risk their lives to further the progress of the dome and Konoha's technology. Any member of these groups simply have to show their card to any business in Konoha and they are given what they need/want.
- In Konoha the birth-rate is controlled. This is done by, when a young lady reaches puberty and has her first menstrual cycle, she's taken to the hospital and implanted with a plastic Intra-uterine Device (IUD) that, when the time is right for the woman to reproduce, is removed. Evolved women though, are not limited to a longer period with the IUD, those are usually taken out in an evolved woman when she is around 20 since most of the evolved population has shorter lifespans due to their jobs as a Kounokei or because of their mutation.
- Homosexuality is not frowned upon in Konoha. Every couple is recognized as what it is and any discrimination against someone, as everyone in Konoha is equal, is a punishable offense. (plus if you're gay, there's no way you'll accidentally have a baby)
- Scavengers are allowed inside the Konoha dome's walls every so often which allows for trades as well as re-supplying of anything the scavenger may need. Sometimes refugees from other domes are granted residency into the dome and then becomes part of the populace
- For scavengers, Metals are precious, the cities needing them for computers as well as weaponry and other things like buildings. Gold, Silver, Copper, Iron as well as mixed metals are good for selling to a city as they, depending on where the dome is located, are a rare commodity.
- Commodities such as Sulfur, charcoal (or coal) and potassium nitrate are also worth a lot to a scavenger should they find some outside of the domes. These are used to make gunpowder.
- Un-mutated items such as seedlings or small creatures are also rare and are bought for hefty sums, especially tree seedlings as they are hard to find in the wastelands.
- There are NO vehicles for transportation. The remnants of cars and the like can be found scattered everywhere, especially in ruined cities and on the outskirts on what used to be major highways. This is mostly because no one sees a need for something that wastes precious fuels and minerals. The technology is there, it's just in use for other more practical applications.
- As well as not having vehicles, there is no form of long distance communication. Every team has a set of short-wave radios good up to about 10 miles apart from one another, the max being about 15.
- When traveling outside the dome, the Kounokei are ALWAYS in their three man teams unless another person(s) have joined them.
- As for domesticating animals for use: since most animals are mutated, save for the ones inside the domes, there's not much to choose from. So far, the only animal in the process of being looked at are "Raptor Chickens", as told by the Dobe:
Naruto: OKAY SO THE STORY BEHIND RAPTORCHICKEN
Naruto: once upon a time...
Naruto: in THIS FUTURE MLKFJSLKFJ!! it's liek the chickens (that weren't stored in keep safes for the animals) were mutated and stuff
Naruto: and became RAPTOR CHICKENS
Naruto: they're liek the size of an ostrich
Naruto: they just recently in our timeline got to the point of genetic... neutrality or whatever
Naruto: so they're making herds or whatever out in the wastes
Naruto: and so the ppl are liek "hey...lookit this"
Naruto: since they remember horses and cars from the ARCHIVES OF HISTORYNESS
Naruto: so they figure they could domesticate these raptor chickens for riding
Naruto: but it's liek a VERY RECENT IDEA
Naruto: so they're not many ppl successful with this
Naruto: cuz i mean
Naruto: they're RAPTOR chickens
Naruto: they have large talons
Naruto: and liek Konoha's military has a few
Naruto: liek 3 or so
Naruto: and they're trying to domesticate them for riding
Naruto: cuz it would help with wasteland missions
Naruto: AND YEAH RAPTOR CHICKENS TADA
Information on "Raptor Chickens"
*RAPTOR CHICKEN!!
- The Konoha dome, is not just one large dome. It is technically three separate domes. The Main dome, and the largest of the three is built into a mountain side with the Hospital half hidden in the rock-face as well as all of the science labs located "underground" which is inside the mountain. Any new technology created or anything being worked on is done so in the underground district [note: there IS a hot springs in the underground district, with a small bathhouse in the residential district, though Konoha does have a sewer system, therefore everyone has a shower in their apartment). Outside of the rock-face is the residential district, which takes up two thirds of the area in front the side of the mountain, the other third belongs to part of the military district. The business district is the furthest away from the mountain and is the only area that scavengers who are allowed inside the dome can access. The doors to get inside the Konoha dome from the wastes is on the right hand side, if you were looking down upon the dome from above. There is a decontaminating area for all incomers, with the Kounokei having direct access to the residential district from here, while the non-residents have to be screened and all items looked though upon entering to make sure they are not going to set something off inside the dome.
There are two smaller domes to the south-est most curve of the dome, making up the agricultural district, which are accessed though two doors inside the Konoha dome, with stairs leading to an underground tunnel, one to each dome. The west-most dome is the one that houses all of the crops, the south-most one housing all livestock.
There will be an image of this eventually: [Image link here]
- In Konoha they have a sewer system which eventually leads outside of the dome, a small sanitation department located to clean and then recycle the used water back to the crops which then filter it again before it's cleaned once more to be used by the people again. This water is healthy enough to drink and contains no contaminants. The department is inside the mountain, though there are a few pipes that sit out for filtering, air and a waste-out tube.
- Most domes are powered by nuclear reactors, while some are powered by cold fusion, like Konoha, while others use the wind outside their dome or water, should they be located near a river or ocean.
- In this time, the domes have each developed differently, with Konoha focusing on genetic manipulation to help feed and maintain a healthy population. Konoha's medical knowledge is highly advanced. In what would take three months to heal a hundred years ago now takes just over a week. DNA can be mapped in three minutes compared to the three years it took in 2012. Medics like Sakura carry a small device with them outside the dome which is portable CAT-scan/MRI/X-ray. The clear screen pulls out from the main part and is held over the part of the body needing to be scanned, and in full color the medic can select from three different modes: bone, organ, or muscle. Though, with this technology things are still fixed the "old fashioned way" with stitches, bandages, and such.
The genetic manipulation is also applied to animals and plants inside the dome, the knowledge helpful in increasing the output of crops as well as engineering animals to grow faster and meatier for consumption.
- While air is filtered from outside the domes, Trees are needed to help with providing clean, unfiltered oxygen to the animals and people inside the domes.
- Each dome developed differently, based on where they were and how many people were inside. Konoha went the route of developing the food to be able to feed everyone while Kiri went with engineering the people to need less food for survival. Suna has androids to help with everything. Since Suna and Konoha are allies, Konoha has a few androids to help with the crops and the crop rotations since the food is altered to grow faster and produce more food, the robots are needed to work around the clock.
- 100 years prior when the panic ensued, machines and other technology were stored in their own underground warehouses, which are also what the Kounokei are searching for to help further along their dome's future.
- Plastics have survived since they are non bio-degradable.
- Apartment buildings in Konoha are always at least 3 stories high with the tallest being 6. The hospital, being built into the mountain side is 8 stories. They are currently working on being able to construct buildings to be taller so there is more space for people to live.
- Konoha has created something they call 'soldier bars', they are small rectangles, able to be eaten in one or two bites (think Halloween snack sized candy bars). These bars contain a combination of amphetamines, caffeine, Vitamins (including B vitamins and potassium as well as electrolytes). After taking up to 5 of these (before it becomes dangerous) the consumer will crash, much like having taken a few energy shots 100 years prior, though this crash is much, much harder due to the drugs involved. It's not advised to take these unless they are needed, though they are included in all survival packs. The time till the consumer crashes varies of their body, some people can last a few hours off one, some only a few minutes.
- Each Team has a tracking GPS node buried somewhere in each area outside the dome as an emergency precaution in case one is lost or left behind. Only the members of that team know the exact location (ex: Team 07's node was buried next to the fountain in the city center) where their node is buried. The general location (ex: City ruins) and the node's ID number is given to the council so they can monitor the receivers in the case one is activated. Each node is buried with a small survival pack which includes: 1 large canteen of water, solider bars (amount varies), bandages and ointment, lighter and an accelerant, and usually two clips. Though, with each team it varies.
- The Kouya no Keisotsu, other than being a specialized team of Konoha inhabitants, it's a lifelong job decision. All children in Konoha attend school from the age of 0-10, then only those who wish to continue on as Kounoki go into a specialized training for three years until they are 13 (ALL Kounoki go through this training), at 13 the children are broken off into teams and are given a mentor ("sensei"), and then are further trained with one of the three usually serving as a medic. At 16 the four man team is allowed to leave the dome on little missions for training out in the field. At 18 the children who are now adults no longer require their mentor to be allowed to leave the dome.
- The Kan Shiro are the defense soldiers. They patrol just ouside the dome and they are the ones who are at the gate allowing people inside. They have a small catwalk that is outside the "glass" top of the dome and is atop the concrete and steel wall that they stand upon, guarding all 180+ degrees of the exposed dome.
- The Gunji Seisatsu are the Police inside the dome. They are responsible for keeping the peace everywhere, but especially in the business district where things are more bound to happen between residents and non-residents. Their department building is located close to the entrance/exit of the dome, half built into the mountain face.
- The Kouya no Keisotsu are the wasteland exploring soldiers who are the ONLY people authorized to leave the dome. They are put into teams of three. These men and women are usually evolved, though it's not required to be one. These people scrounge the wastes for artifacts and clues into the past as well as searching underground warehouses stocked with supplies. They also hunt down packs of Henshu and track them to their lairs to clear out any commodities they might have gathered up for them. Since the Fleshless are known to collect things that are "shiny" such as metals or gems, they also track down lairs and raid them.
- The Council is made of elders, the members usually pulled from their jobs when they reach 26 and stay in their position until they are dead. The council consists of families, with the Chancellor being picked from the family lines. Only one chancellor is "in power" at a time.
- The Chancellor's job is to assign missions to the teams as well as the councils view are known to the people.
- The Fleshless are zombie like creatures. They are as dumb as a doorknob. They attack in small groups, usually 10-15 unless their lair is invaded. Lairs of The Fleshless can consist of anywhere from 40-80 of the little buggers. They move fairly slowly and will continue to follow after a food source even after being injured. Shoot to Kill: aka, head/heart.
- The Henshu on the other hand are semi-intelligent. They know how to use weapons, they can plan attacks and they always travel in large groups of 30-40. Their lairs can be as small as 30 and as large as 150. Think of them as mutated 11 year old's with guns and empty stomachs. They have a basic knowledge and know how to survive. They know how to open a door, but should it be locked, they'd simply bust it down rather than trying to pick the lock or look for the key (since the key has probably long been lost). SHOOT FIRST, ASK QUESTIONS LATER. These creatures are not to be taken lightly as they know how to kill and can hold a grudge. There are two types. The Larger bodied and the smaller bodied. The larger bodied Henshu are slower and less intelligent. They are usually the 'followers' of the group and are harder to put down when shot. The smaller Henshu are more agile and are quicker. They are usually the 'leaders' of the groups as well as the planners.
More things will be added as they are decided or the question is asked. Please make sure to check back for updates, which we will try to announce in the Left side boxes.
I hope this helps and Thank you everyone for helping us out! We really appreciate it! <3
