Age: 19
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Gender is irrelevant. Being troublesome isn’t. Note: it has yet to be cleared up whether Shikamaru is attracted to a high or a low ‘level’ of ‘being troublesome’.
Blood Type: AB
Birthday: September 22nd
DNA: Evolved

Father: Nara Shikaku
Mother: Nara Yoshino
Siblings: None
T A C T I C A L (Complete)
Occupation: Kouya no Keisotsu
Team (if applies): Team 10
City/Dome: Konoha
Evolution (if applies): Shikamaru has, just like his father, the ability to control strange, dark colored microorganisms with his mind, affectionally dubbed ‘Kage’ microorganisms by his ancestors. Because they can’t stand the sunlight for long and therefore rest in his shadow, it seems like he is able to move his own shadow, and if they reside in theirs, his opponent’s shadow. On touch, the grouped microorganisms release a venom that keeps their victim from moving, and after inhaling the ‘Kage Mane’ venom, a person will lose control of his body for a short amount of time, and Shikamaru will be able to course the venom through his opponents body, effectively making him move. After years of practice, Shikamaru is also able make the molecules work together to form tendrils, though only for a short amount of time. It takes a lot of mind power to keep up the technique for long. The microorganism multiply in the dark, and wither away in the light, making his techniques most effective during the nighttime. It also seems the mastery of this ability is directly linked to the user’s IQ. That being so, Shikamaru is the strongest user seen... since the mutation. His family usually only uses it to herd the deer, because it puts too much strain on them otherwise. Shikamaru has used this as an excuse to work more than once.

- 10X Regular Grenades.
- 20X Shuriken.
- Random modified technology. This often includes his green Gameboy color used as a (very ineffective) stun gun. It is hardly used because it runs on batteries.
P E R S O N A L I T Y (Complete)
From a very young age, Shikamaru preferred to sit down and watch the world instead of getting involved in ‘troublesome’ activities. If asked, he would say that he was busy avoiding responsibilities. He was generally a very bored, lazy but very observing unenthusiastic kid who just wanted to watch the clouds. Shikamaru always was aware of these character traits, and never denied them. This open minded attitude was the start of his and Chouji’s friendship, when he overlooked his weight.
When Shikamaru became 12, he joined the Kouya no Keisotsu. During the training period, Shikamaru developed a strong loyalty towards his teammates and captain. When duty calls, Shikamaru has a strong moral compass and sense of commitment to his comrades, and when needed, he is an amazing leader. However, he hardly ever shows this side of him unless it is really needed. He relies on his brain in battle, and with an IQ over 200, a great strategist. He isn’t a motivated or strong fighter, choosing rather to observe and manipulate, nor is he a unnecessarily devoted and skilled person. However, whenever he gets the chance to, Shikamaru will not hesitate to revert to his more immature, lazy and slightly devious side and try to accomplish as little as possible.
Shikamaru is generally good natured, but will not hesitate to lie in order to avoid work, which can make him seem selfish. He can be quite an ass to women when he finds them troublesome or avoid social situations because of sudden his sudden disinterest in either the conversation of speaking at all. He will avoid a crowd as often as possible but is able to hold himself in a conversation, despite being slightly awkward sometimes.
Shikamaru is becoming increasingly more interested in science and ancient culture. He is unusually interested in how followers of a belief that preached charity and compassion ended up in almost destroying the world (A/N: Me too XD), and intends to revive means of transportation, though with no luck so far. Shikamaru is starting to grow a dislike for the dome after the fight with his parents, and prefers to hang out in the underground district or even the sewer system so he doesn’t have to look at it. He likes traveling as long as he doesn’t have to hurry, which is hardly the case. He enjoys his days outside the dome, claiming that the combination between real clouds and sunshine without a crowd to bother him is all a man could ever ask for. He enjoys spending time with his friends in the dome or in the forsaken woods and city ruins and is vastly disappearing more often to explore the unexplored areas on his own. Shikamaru is a follower of Shinto
H I S T O R Y (finally done)
Shikamaru’s first memory would be his mother yelling to his father. Up to this day, he has no idea what their argument was about, but he assumes that it was because of his usual quietness. According to his mother, he was a quiet baby that seemed to pick up the basic skills like talking and walking extremely quick, and then suddenly lost them. This worried his mother, a young civilian woman who was still slightly frightened of her husband’s evolved DNA, and the possible consequences of her son inheriting it. However his father, a farmer with a deer monopoly, was more interested in his business than a healthy but quiet baby. His early childhood years were rather uneventful. At first, Shikamaru seemed like a curious baby, but that enthusiasm for exploring his little world diminished with every inch he gained.
When he was six, Shikamaru enrolled into the academy and immediately found out that he liked school. Especially his seat in the back of the class where he could sleep or daydream all day, supposedly learning by ‘osmosis’. Or so he would say when the teachers asked him how it was possible that somebody who never paid any attention in class or did any of his homework still got good grades. They, and most of the other students left him alone after that. And Shikamaru was okay with that. He had long ago concluded that humans were selfish beings, and that he was very much human.
When he was 8, he met with his first object of interest: a history book. Initially, history sparked his interest when he woke up while the history teacher was telling a story about a ‘vehicle’ that made it possible for humans to move from one place to another without actually having to put some effort into it. When he surprised his teacher by asking why we didn’t have such ‘vehicles’ today, his teacher had answered that the technology had been lost. But, and Shikamaru remembered the mischievous glint in the man’s eyes when he’d said this like it was yesterday, it might still be buried somewhere. At the young age of 8 it was Shikamaru’s purpose in life to resurrect the wonder that was transportation, and looking back on it, it was most likely the moment that he unconsciously decided to become a part of the Kounokei when he grew up. He never really lost his interest in ‘the lost civilization’.
A week after that lesson Shikamaru set out to find traces of it, which, according to the book he had just memorized, buried somewhere in the wasteland. Hit with an unfamiliar spark of motivation, Shikamaru systematically skipped school and started searching for remnants. He wasn’t stupid enough to just start digging. (he figured that if anything would have been buried underneath the dome, it would already have been discovered.) So, the eight year old concluded, the only way was out. But how to get out?
It only took him 3 weeks of systematic skipping to find his way into the sewer system, and eventually, out of the dome. However, his 'adventure' was short lived. Unprepared and unaccustomed to the harsh weather, Shikamaru easily found out something that his teachers had failed to mention: the air wasn't clean at all outside the dome. He lasted a little bit over 3 minutes before his the burning in his lungs became unbearable, and he had to hurry back. When he finally reached home, he collapsed right into his mother’s arms. When he woke up in the hospital, it turned out he had caught a sunstroke and his skin and lungs had been burned. After all, he had never before been out of the protection of the dome, so his skin had burned easily and his lungs had been filled with the poisoned air. His parents instantly knew what he had done, and after he recovered he was grounded for weeks, while his mother and father kept monitoring his every step.
When he returned to school, he found out that the few kids he had been friends with didn’t want to talk with him anymore. It didn’t take him long to figure out why: their parents were afraid that the boy with the newly acquired tan would corrupt their children and take them out of the safety of the dome. For the rest of his school years, Shikamaru never did anything that would require any physical labor again. After all, the only time that he had actually done something, the consequences had been severe.
At the age of 10, his father finally forgave him his ‘momentary lapse of immaturity’, and decided that it was time for Shikamaru to gain a shadow of his own. This shadow had been used by his family for generations as a way to herd the deer, but Shikamaru was more fascinated with how the single microorganism multiplied itself until they formed a dark spot on the carpet of his room. And he imagined that the quickly growing group had dark, innocent, bulging eyes, that just begged him to be kind. Not being able to resist the sudden urge to pet them, Shikamaru experienced the mind numbing affect of the kagemane venom. He was quite addicted to the sensation until he became immune. (A/n: LOL, 10-year-old drugs addict)
After another 3 years of sleeping through most classes, the time came to make a decision. His mother him to take on a civilian job while his father wanted him to become to take over the business. He wanted complete freedom to explore the world outside, either to find traces of the lost civilization or to look at the sky directly, claiming that he wanted to feel the beams of the sun on his face for once, not the 'central heating'. So, his parents most definitely didn’t agree when he choose to become a part of the Kounokei. Being afraid that their lazy, weak son would be killed on his first mission, they insisted that he’d either choose another occupation or leave the house. But they encountered one of Shikamaru’s hidden talents: stubbornness.
So Shikamaru left the house at 13 and joined the Kounokei nevertheless, and was forced to make friends. It was then that he met most of his later colleagues. (aka, the rookie nine) At 14 his parents gave in and he moved back in.
During the 3 year training period in the dome itself Shikamaru’s teachers often tried to convince him to quit and pursue a more scientific career path, since he had no actual interest in any kind of physical labor. Shikamaru aced the exams nevertheless.
When the teams were formed, Shikamaru was glad that he was teamed up with Chouji and Ino, even though Ino kept complaining that she wanted to be teamed up with her precious Sasuke-kun and he had a feeling that Chouji actually didn’t like being parted from his family and their kitchen. Sarutobi Asuma was manipulative, laid-back and a chain smoker, but also a friend for a lifetime and an irreplaceable team captain. Under his guidance the glutton, loudmouth and slacker grew into strong, independent explorers.
While Ino and Chouji complained about the lacking luxuries while perfecting their aim on the multiple fleshless they encountered during the first weeks, Asuma started showing his manipulative side and tricking Shikamaru into actually doing something.
During one of the first weeks in the wasteland, Team 10 found a very small hidden storage room not far outside Konoha, and team 10 still celebrates the day of their first real accomplishment. Most of the technology that was found there was brought back to Konoha after the training period was over, but Shikamaru secretly kept one green Gameboy color and the game ‘Pokémon yellow’. He quickly discovered however, that the ancient game console needed batteries. He has been hooked ever since he found it and always carries it with him, in search for new batteries or Pokémon games.
After almost a year had passed and the frightened bunch of children that had started the journey had become quite cocky. Well, until they got lost in enemy territory and they were suddenly forced to attack another team of humans, and found out that fighting with humans was far more frightening than killing something that you considered inferior to yourself.
The four of them fought a team of sound explorers with a lot of trouble, but Shikamaru singled out one of them, the only girl, so his team could overpower the other two with more ease. However, this also caused them to get separated. When Shikamaru was about to kill his opponent, the girl transformed, turning out to be a mutant. Shikamaru fought for all he was worth, applying strength over his kages and winning barely, but not being able to kill the girl before she fled. With the last of his strength he struggled to get to the closest dome: Suna. Only to faint the moment the guards found him.
During his recovery time, Shikamaru found out that the girl or rather woman that had been yelling at his hospital bed and the guard that saved him were one and the same person. Temari was her name. Shikamaru spend some time with her during his recovery period.
Once reunited, Team 10 never lost track of each other again and started specializing in exploring new territory, setting out to find as many hidden storages as possible and take the record from the current record holding team.
After the 2 year training period was over, Shikamaru’s mother gave him a t-shirt saying ‘Dome, sweet home’. Seeing it as an insult, he packed the last of his belongings the same night and left early in the morning, without a place to go. Not wanting to leech of one of his teammates again, de stayed in the research facilities for a while after meeting with an old classmate Shiho after being caught trying to take a nap in the underground. His short stay with her caused him to see some truth in his former teachers words when they had told him to pursue a scientific career. For about a month he had an internal struggle between choice of pleasing his parents and doing something he was really good at, or staying with his teammates and just fuck the world. He started skipping ‘missions’, telling his teammates that he needed a break after their two year absence from the dome to get house for himself. And they pretended to overlook the fact that as a part of the Kounokei he could get a house for free anytime he wanted. It wasn’t after a mission went wrong and a fleshless fatally injured Chouji that Shikamaru’s loyalty to his teammates won. He still hasn’t truly forgiven himself, although his teammates have long since forgiven him.
After this incident Shikamaru got himself an apartment of his own and started to train harder, perfected his Shadow end game technique and started doing some research and experimenting in his free time. That is, when he isn’t dragged into something troublesome by Ino, Chouji or another friend of his. He is slowly but surely rebuilding the bond with his parents, and visits them every free Sunday evening for a family dinner.
O T H E R * I N F O (Complete)
- Shikamaru is chronically lazy, and will find time before, after AND during a mission to lay down and take a look at the clouds.
- Shikamaru hates anything that could be called an animal. This has most likely something to do with Pakkun.
- Shikamaru has a habit of ‘borrowing’ interesting technology from the storages they find, and modifies them when he isn’t sleeping, out on a mission, being dragged somewhere with his friends or playing old-school Nintendo games.)
- He prefers to be called Shika when his father is not around.
- Despite claiming to detest women and their ‘troublesome-ness’, Shikamaru has surprisingly many female friends.
-Shikamaru has the unhealthy habit of talking to his own shadow as if it is a human being.

The sky was that rare shade of blue, hardly decorated with dirty clouds for once. A single pterosaur crossed the sky, facing the torrid heat and cutting wind that were the norm in this part of the wasteland. Shikamaru readjusted his scarf so it covered the part of his face that wasn’t protected by his leaf green goggles, enjoying yet hating the feeling of cracked lips which came with traveling for long in this weather.
He had been traveling for 4 days and 8 hours on his own, making the familiar journey across the landscape of dry baked earth and lime stone without his team. Shikamaru didn’t mind that, he was a solitary person. He didn’t go insane with loneliness. Most would find the scenery boring or monotone, but Shikamaru could see beauty in the rapture of nature, no matter how the harsh sunlight burned into his skin or how many snakes followed him ominously. Looking at the clear blue glass sky that was quickly marred by flecks of darkness, Shikamaru wouldn’t be able to find a better place to be at the moment. This land made out of soft sand colors, seemingly dead and forgotten, was not as monotone as Ino proclaimed. He knew that the sun would soon color the sand, the cacti and the carcasses a thousand shades of red, making the dead world bleed to life. The darkness of the night, only lighted by the subtle glow of the moon was when the desert dogs would come out to hunt.
The desert just before Suna was anything but boring. It hid it's diversity in simplicity, and Shikamaru could appreciate that. Cawing birds and the sound of feasting natural mutations was only the prelude to dusk, Shikamaru knew. He also was well aware that he wouldn’t see it. The grandiosity of the main Suna Dome was not yet in sight, but Shikamaru knew that with his traveling rate of 5 miles an hour, it would take him 4 days, 8 hours and 25 minutes to reach the dome.
The lonesome howl battle howl of a raptor chicken suddenly sounded not far away and Shikamaru thought he’d might surprise Temari and increase his tempo to the bare maximum of 15 miles an hour, but decided not to. She would most likely only pester him about it the next time he was a minute late. “Troublesome woman, don’t you agree, shadow?”
Shikamaru pretended not to look at his lengthened shadow and the microorganisms within that were currently plotting a rebellion against him for forcing them into the blazing heat of the sun. “Relax guys” He soothed the imaginary being as he pretended it to pout. “Can’t you see you are growing healthily? The night is coming soon.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, a chuckle escaped him as well. Now not only his parents and teammates were telling him to stop being so lazy, but now even his own shadow was telling him to hurry up.
Figures, the one thing he could never get rid of.
He accelerated somewhat at the sight of the enormous Dome, leaving the overwelming void of the desert behind him. “Come on guys. Let’s surprise Temari by being 2 minutes early.”

RP Experience: On the web? 0. In real life I cosplay and RP once a month for the past year. Not much experience, but you got to start somewhere…
Availability: Between 4PM and 10/11PM (usually) and in the weekends the entire day unless I am out. So, irregular. Also note: I am Dutch, which means that my time zone is + 0100.
Edit: Well, I deleted a lot of things about Ino, Yoshino, Shikaku and Chouji in the History section, so the person who decides to rp them has more freedom. I didn’t have the heart to delete Asuma’s part… but if it’s necessary then I will. I also added some things that I found in old!Shika’s profile, because it was awesome. XD The solo mission part in the end is because my ‘teammates’ are still without player, and that way I have an excuse to rp with people Shikamaru otherwise wouldn’t even meet.
EDIT: Okay, version 2.2 I deleted most of the capitals and changed some spelling.... and edited the personality part you didn't like Dei... though not entirely.
EDIT v. 2.3 Shortened the History section... a lot.

- He prefers to be called Shika when his father is not around.
- Despite claiming to detest women and their ‘troublesome-ness’, Shikamaru has surprisingly many female friends.

EDIT v. 2.3 Shortened the History section... a lot.
